Benjamin “Jamie” Williams joined the STEPS team in 2020! Jamie was born in San Francisco, CA, and moved to Seattle when he was 5 years old. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Psychology in May 2020 from the University of Portland and is fluent in Spanish. He is hoping to continue his education at the graduate level in the field of applied psychology.
Jamie has many years of experience working with children of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities, including teaching swim lessons as a lifeguard, leading summer camps, and working collaboratively with various theatre groups. He is fascinated by the power of language and communication as a catalyst for positive social and emotional growth and development on both the individual and community level. He believes that, by treating the individual with empathy, patience, and a personalized experience that sets them up to succeed, teaching and caregiving can be a formative and empowering experience. He has an empathetic and engaging teaching style, and a true passion for helping others gain confidence and have fun learning.
In his spare time, Jamie enjoys traveling, reading mystery novels, playing board games, mountain hiking/biking, auditioning for plays, and chasing squirrels with his dog, Kate.
